some of the side effects are, When I accelerate the rpm meter jumps to 4000 rpm my truck jerks but doesnt pickup much, sometimes it wont go over 65 mph and I have to let my foot off the gas for it to shift to next gear (automatic) when i brake the check gauges light comes on the oil meter drops to zero the when i accel the light goes off and the meter back to normal
Any suggestions to fix one problem dont know if there related

Okay, the loss of power sounds like a plugged up catalyic converter. You will have to un-hook it some way and see if your power comes back. There are lots of other things it could be but if the truck idles okay and has no other running issues given the age it is a possibility. Throttle position sensors can cause it also.
The wierd electrical problem sounds like a grounding problem. Check to see if the ground strap wire that goes from the block to the firewall near the fuse panel is unhooked or corroded.

It really sounds like the on-board computer fried
Auto zone has a OBD2 connector and scanner have it hooked up and checked, it could be something simple but I don't think so
Those on-boards only cost about 90 bucks these days.

you have two or three different problems with it,you need to take it and have the computer scanned on it first,then you,ll have some trouble codes to work with,without having this done you could spend a lot of money guessing at it,i see that happen every day to some people,good luck with it.
