Doing a school project and I'm taking a poll to see people's views on vigilantism. For, against, thoughts?

Against it really. It's illegal for starters.
And it's just too hard to do well. Meaning, if you are going it alone, comic-book style, going out there and "fighting crime" is way harder than it seems, because gangsters and scum these days don't fight, they shoot guns, stab and sic Pit Bull dogs on you....
And this even assumes you are going after the right people, which is an even *bigger* problem with vigilantism in groups. Once that group-think kicks in, anyone *outside* of the group is fair game. This is how lynch-mobs work. On a broader, more historical scale this is how racism works, and how holy wars work. The point of it is, eventually people do *lose it* and just attack people to *attack people* whether they're right, wrong, or just *there* in harm's way.
So yeah, I can't recommend it really. Not even if you have the super-powers to correct for some of the human frailties and errors of judgement that people *will* make under the circumstances.

Depends on the environment, In a populated area no way, but I can see it in a small community, but then it would just replace the police force, so I don't see it working out so... no, I do not support.

It all depends upon the situation, if it is warrented, then an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth, if it is "iffy" or not deserved, then totally against.
