For firing Tyrone Willingham and hiring Charlie Weis?

Look how long the university stood by the incompetent Gerry Faust and - though a different era, there was a track record of giving coaches time - it was baffling why Ty got canned so quickly. Unless Weis leaves for another coaching job, the university is stuck with him, since the payout to have him walk is much too high. I am not sheding any tears.

Notre Dame has a rich tradition of winning and can't handle any type of mediocrity. The fact is they didn't have enough patience to keep Willingham and if Weis doesn't get off to a good start next season, out the door he will go too!

Tyrone has been gone for 3 years now. If his recruits were so terrible, explain guys like Brady Quinn and the running back they had last year.(I am to drunk to remember his name, but he was a hell of a football player, and person.) The problem with Weis is he has the pro mentality, get players that fit the system, instead of what you need in college, which is get a system that fits the players.

more or less but Tyrone Willingham's recruiting is what put them in this spot. at least that is what a lot of people think. there was a recruiting gap also Weis has not handled it well. they have good atheletes but they are almost all freshmen.

Er.....Ummmmm......

the patriots, where weis came from doesn't have all blue chippers.

the patriots coach players.......weis should learn to coach
that recruiting stuff is bullsh..............

if you haven't noticed these unheralded programs are giving these so-called powerhouses fits this year

they are getting what they deserve

they tried to buy a national championship by getting a coach from the superbowl champs and overpaying him

Actually the Fighting Irish have been an average team for quite a few years. It is the media that portrays them as a powerhouse football program season after season.

Who wants to play at ND? Yeah its rich in tradition, but have you ever been to South Bend Indiana. I would rather watch grass grow than go to school there.
