My friend also had feelings for the man I was in love with. The reason I kept my feelings hidden for so long was partly due to this.
He is with someone else now, but I will always begrudge the fact that I felt like I couldn't say anything to him. Things might have been a lot different if I had only spoken up sooner.
Although... no offence, it doesn't sound as though this is anything more serious than a crush, so I wouldn't worry too much.

If he hadn't mentioned he liked your friend "equally" I would say GO FOR IT! The best relationships start out as friendships sometimes! But it seems like he's confused and likes more girls than he's telling you. BUT LISTEN!!! Maybe he really likes you ALOT and he said he likes the other girl just because he felt embarassed and uncomfortable about telling you he liked you and had a huge crush on you!!!!! Maybe he just was trying to make himself feel less weird by saying he liked your friend too, to make it seem less weird. He probably has liked you for a long long time and would love to be with you. BUT If he is not a good guy and doesn't feel that way, you have to keep in mind: Your friendship will likely be ruined, and you guys will not see each other again if you date him. BUT, if you like him or think you may love him or something, your heart will tell you to be with him and take the chance, and you may do it, you may get hurt, you may not. This is life hun, It's really hard to choose what to do, and relationships and dating and love is so complicated! It's so hard to find someone who cares about you truly and likes/loves you for who you are and not for what you look like or what money you have etc. I can't tell you what you should do, ONLY YOU KNOW WHAT YOU SHOULD DO! Follow your heart, but, use your head, and look into it a little more. Think to yourself, is he a player? What girls has he dated in the past, and what has he done to them? What do they say about him? Has he cheated? Has he hurt them? If he has done these things, DO NOT tell him you like him or want to date him. If he has treated women well in the past, maybe you should follow your heart and say you like him. I really wish you the best from the bottom of my heart, I am NOT doing this for the point. I don't use Yahoo answers. SO PLEASE give the points to someone else who deserves them and who really wants them, because I don't care about it I come here once ever few weeks, my level is not important. What's important is that you get your answers and do what you think is right. Remember if you do like him and go out with him and he hurts you. Life goes on, and there are many men you can like, and fall in love with in your lifetime. You'll always find someone else who will care for you. Good luck sweety!

tell your friends he LIKES YOU not them tell them to shut up an deal with it. if they don't like it its tough if there being horrible to you over a guy then they ain't true friends. plus you should of said to your friends hands off his mine go get your own guy...
