How many times do I have to repeat this?! PEOPLE ARE NOT AFRAID OF HEIGHTS OR GRAVITY!!! It's when they team up, they get scared.

I'm not really afraid of heights, but I know a lot of people who are. It's just a phobate that causes you to feel uncomfortable at any source of unstableness, mainly being heights. I don't really know if this phobate is hereditary. I know some are (for instance, spiders!!). I don't think it is, because both of my parents are absolutely terrified of heights, but my sister, my brother and I don't mind heights at all! But at the same time, all of my friends' parents who are afraid of heights, their kids (my friends) are, too! So I did all I could to answer your question. Hope it helps!

I am because when I was little I used to have nightmares about falling of cliffs, roofs, anything tall; I wouldn't wake up until my nose touched the ground. I am now horrified of heights I can't come within 4 feet of any ledge anywhere.

Because you can fall down and die??? Actually, I have a HUGE fear of heights and the fear is so bad that I don't even think about the dying part which is the end result, just falling. It gives me the greatest anxiety. Even now, just thinking about it, is making my heart race! sheesh! So there are a lot of reasons to fear heights!

They're worried they might fall down and go splat.

p.s. my brother once fell off a short ladder and broke both wrists. He couldn't wipe himself for weeks. Imagine the embarrassment of not being able to handle your own personal hygiene.

I don't know, but I have a bad case of it. I can't even watch heights on TV.

Once I reach a certain height, it doesn't bother me. I used to have fun climbing water tanks.....great view.
