France ruled most of north Africa (Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, pretty much everything in the Sahara Desert)

Britain had most of the southern part of Africa

Belgium ruled the Congo in central Africa

Spain controlled part of Morocco/Western Sahara, and Spanish Guinea (now Equatorial Guinea)

Portugal had Angola, Mozambique in southern Africa

Germany had a few colonies but these were seized when they lost World War I and split between Britain and France

Ethiopia was independent

Liberia was independent b/c it was founded by black Americans fleeing slavery but was basically a U.S. colony up to that point

the guy above me has some right however he failed to mention that Ghana,Nigeria were colonized by the British(part of west africa)
