Energy independence, for one. Even with its vast oil reserves, Iran lacks the refining capacity to utilize its own natural resources, forcing them to rely on imported gasoline and other fuels. It's no wonder Iran has been developing a nuclear energy program to take care of its needs.
You could also throw in "liberation" from modernization of its infrastructure and from democratic reforms. A strike upon Iran would only embolden the hardliners, further eroding the chances of moderates in the country to instill reforms.
How ironic is it that Russia and China are acting as mediators and "peacekeepers" to stave off Bush's war ambitions with the hardline Iranian regime. This surely does not bode well for American credibility.

No offense, but if you try to rationalize the thoughts of the irrational, in this case GWB, you will do nothing but work yourself into a vicous circle of unreasonable logic.
Just remind yourself that things are just going to have to be screwed up for a little while longer, and that hopefully the next elected person will again be someone you and most anyone else will be able to truthfully state the claim "I am not smarter than the President of the United States." Right now is the only time in history I would have been able to make that claim and not be lying. So say it everybody, while you have the chance: " I am smarter than the President of the United States of America" You are not lying most likely, so relish these days of stupidity. He's made us all out to be geniuses if we have so much as a flatline on the oscilloscope.
WHEW! Sorry, You get started and you can't stop with this bonehead.

If Iran is such a liberated country, then why is it that women are still being stoned to death on a regular basis, for committing adultery, while the men are permitted to live?
Have you all forgotten that pitiful case from about two months back, of the mother of three who with her children had been in prison for eleven years, and has now been stoned to death by a crowd of baying men?
Any woman who thinks Iran is OK might perhaps want to rethink her attitude a bit.

Give Iran the nukes, they have as much right as any other country who has them and they are not as likely to start a nuclear war as America is.

There's some other things too--keep in mind Bush has also liberated 2 million Iraqis from their homes and country. He's liberated them from things like education, running water, and electricity as well.
I'm sure the Iranian people are just beside themselves with anticipation!

Knowledge. Apparently he wants to declare a war on knowledge.
BUSH: "We've got a leader in Iran who has announced that he wants to destroy Israel. So I've told people that, if you're interested in avoiding World War III, it seems like you ought to be interested in preventing them from having the knowledge necessary to make a nuclear weapon."
Bush and Ahmadinejad are just posturing to appeal to a few supporters. They both will be gone when their term is up.
