in response to the first answer, Martha's Vineyard is not part of Cape Cod..

I'd suggest staying in the Chatham area, it's pretty central to most of Cape Cod, being at the elbow of the cape, and you'd be able to drive to the other areas of the cape... Chatham is also one of the prettiest towns on the cape..

In response to Beatle Fanatic.... it's generally referred to as Cape Cod and the Islands...... Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard are NOT a part of Cape Cod, although there is a close association..... Cape Cod is a strip of land running from the Cape Cod Canal to Provincetown... no need to take a ferry to get here....

Well, that depends. Are you planning on going sometime soon? Many areas of Cape Cod will have some closed restaurants and shops because it's considered the off season. One of the biggest appeals of Cape Cod is the beach, which obivously isn't any fun when it's freezing out!. . . .All that having been said, I hope you're planning for some other time. Regardless, I would say staying somewhere around Hyannis is good because there's the most to do as far as options there, and it's a good central location. . .Enjoy your trip, whenever it is!

Foggy is in the fog. Martha's Vineyard is definitely part of Cape Cod as is Nantucket and are both great places to visit but they are the most expensive area of the Cape. Falmouth and Hyannis have lots of shopping, lodging, and restaurants. Provincetown is the most historic area of the Cape with lots of areas to visit and shop. The nicest beaches are in P-town and along the outer arm of the Cape. If I had to pick just one place it would be Martha's Vineyard (Oak Bluffs or Edgartown) because they haven't changed much over the years.

The biggest problem with Cape Cod is that those of us who live near enough to visit make it way too crowded for those of you that live there year-round. I love Cape Cod - but more so when the crowds are lower in off-seasons. Cape Cod on a rainy vacation week, however, is one of the worst places to be.

mashpee commons are nice but expensive. if your looking for shopping places cape cod mall, mashpee commons, main street in hyannis, and main street in falmouth are all good places. also orleans is really nice and has great beaches but most of them are private. if you have the money try to get a room or a cabin at the chatham bars inn in chatham. it has a great view and the beach is right out the door, you just cross a street which is not busy at all.

I personally really enjoyed and I recommend you staying at Nickerson...

My friends and I have a tradition of going camping there over to Nickerson State Park on July 4th (friends birthday)... and we have a lot of fun! very relaxing place. Has some very good restaurants there, cant think of the name now, but I definitely think you should go to Nickerson
