Well in America we still have a connection to Britain it used to be our mother country in the beginning. And mediawise there's a lot more coverage on the British royal family than any others in the world. Catch the Young Royals episodes of E! True Hollywood Story, they talk about a lot of them or go to www.theinternetforum.co.uk there's a link to a royalforum that talks about all the world royals, even up to date stories about other European royal families and others.

Your honest opinion has very good insights. In order to express mine, this does not happen only with the British Royal Family or nay royal family, as a matter of fact. The reason the majority of the people (not all) are fascinated is the same that people are also fascinated with film stars, famous singers, athletes and other celebrities: They have access to information about them, since they are constantly on the spotlight. Its an extension of the tendency to gossip about fellow-workers when they are not around (I don't approve it, also, but it happens). People are just like that: They like to talk about other people. That in fact reminded me of the saying: "Great minds talk about ideas, average minds talk about facts; and more modest minds think about... other people!"

britain and america have closer ties than the other royal countries do. in australia weve only ever head about the british royals (but we are still a commonwealth country and the queen is our head of state), but in the last few years we've started to hear a lot more about denmark because an australian, mary, married the heir to their throne.

The British royal family has got more scandals than any other European royal families. Who could compare to King Edward VIII when he abdicated to be with Mrs. Wallace Simpson only months into his reign? Which royal house has got more divorces compare to that of House of Windsor? From Princess Anne from Mark Phillips in 1992, to Prince Charles of Wales from Diana, Princess of Wales in 1996 and followed by Prince Andrew of York from Sarah, Duchess of York in 1996? All occurred within four years and the only one of four children by Queen Elizabeth II is still married, and that is Prince Edward of Wessex.
Obviously, the media is going to write whatever sells, and what is more juicy entertainment than the very exclusive private lives of the British royals?

i think it more that america relates more with britain so they are more interested in our royal family than say spain, but when i lived in spain the never talked about the british royal family but the spainish one was always on tele, i never see our royal family even on british tele just stuff like William gets bk with his ex, but nada much else. (there pretty boring really)

I believe the British royals live much more high profile lives than other royals. They are expected to perform a number of ceremonial tasks and continue to do so with a great ammount of pomp and ceremony. Britain also continues to have an official aristocracy, not just a royal family.

Sure there are several other Royal families, but here in the States, we look to them for our "culture and etiquette". God knows we can't get it from the White House!

As a born and bred Brit, I can say that old Queenie is the biz, and deserves attention and recognition for the endless public engagements she performs.
As for the rest of our Royals, they all seem to be barking mad and most of the stories we get over here are to do with their gaffes and mindless ramblings (except Wills and Harry who are just too cool).
Also, the other European Royals are too busy holidaying and spanking their butlers with wet lettuce. True, I tell you.

Our Royal family has PRINCESS ANNE, that is why. She is our greatest asset, she is a tireless worker for many charities and she is STILL breathtakingly beautiful.

I believe its because the Britsh royals still play an active part in their government whereas the other countries' royals retain their titles as formalities.
