The purpose?! Without "space" there would be nothing. No galaxies, no stars, no planets, no elements, no people. Nothing. There isn't a "purpose." It IS the means for all experience and purpose.

Who says it has a purpose? I suppose if it has to have a purpose that would be to be the place for everything else to exist in. Like stars and planets, including Earth.

Purpose? You mean why is it there if we can't use it ourselves? Or do you mean is there a "higher" divine purpose to space?
Either way, as far as we know, there is no particular or specific purpose for space.
It does provide room and a background medium for stars and planets to form and develop.
