The only 'pain' you'll feel is the 'needle stick' ... after that you just lie down and the blood flows through the tube into the bag. Aftewards, they'll pull the needle out, put a bandage on you, and walk you to the commisary for 'cookies and juice' ... you'll need to sit there and eat for at least 15 minutes, both to get your body fluids up, and also to be sure you don't faint. It's really EASY to give blood ... and THANK YOU FOR DONATING!

There is a quick sting and then you just sit there and it gets pumped out of you.

It only hurts for that first second...

Depending on your body weight you may feel a tad light headed when your done but they will give you a cookie and some juice to raise your blood sugar and you will feel better.

Eat some spinach or have some beef for dinner to help bring your iron levels back up.

Oh! And if you have had dental work done in the last 2 weeks or had a piercing/tattoo in the last month be sure to TELL THEM!

It makes you ineligible to donate because it might have caused something to migrate into your blood.

Donating blood is one of the greatest things you can do because it is pretty much painless and you will be saving a life!

No, and usually they really are good with the needle because they do it a lot. It is like having blood drawn and surely you have had that done. I am an old nurse and used to take blood, I was a good one, all my patients loved me...there is a way to make it hurt less, bevel up on the needle please. Then if you have good veins it will be nothing, just relax, have a little OJ and a snack and then go home. You are doing a good thing. I can't anymore because of health problems they don't want my blood. You are a good person. God bless you.

It's Going To Be No Different From Giving Blood For Tests Ur Doctor Ordered...It's Not Going To Hurt...Make Sure U Ask Them To Use A "Butterfly" Needle, They Are Truly Painless.

It doesn't hurt if you aren't too put off by a needle being inserted into your median cubital vein. Hopefully you don't have what is called "rolling veins" [ your vein doesn't not appear under your skin] and the person who is taking the blood is experienced and not heavy handed.

It is great that you're donating. Hopefully you will be able to. Some people don't have enough Iron in their blood to donate.

Generally no, it doesn't hurt at all. Some people are inexperienced when it comes to puting the needle in though and it may be a little painful, but most of those people know what they are doing. I use to donate blood, but it has been awhile.

It doesn't hurt after the needle goes in, and if you have a good needle runner, that won't hurt either. Make sure you eat a good meal before you go and start tonight drinking lots of liquids. Not beer, not liquor. Water, juices, that kind of thing. You will feel a little weak after the donation, but they will give you juice and cookies. That will help you feel better. God bless you for helping.

No it doesn't hurt. I've been donating blood since 1990. Be sure to eat before you donate as you may get lightheaded and dizzy if you don't. And drink the juice and sweets they give you afterwards. Drink plenty of water the rest of the day to replenish your fluids. And relax! You may be saving someone's life.

No, almost painless ,No worse than getting a blood test. Drink plenty of water before you go, that'll make it easier to find a vein
Be sure to eat also. Thank you for donating

It all depends.. if you try to focus on something else while they take the blood from you, it'll fly by quick and you wont feel a thing. If you think about it too much then it's going to be a little more painful than what it actually is. Good luck sweetie.
