And absolute power corrupts absolutely.
And that God has absolute power.

Then how can you assume God is completely moral and incorruptible?

(Please no anal athiests - its an 'assume God exists' question)

Assuming those assumptions, I could still argue:

A) Man has erred in terming God’s abilities as “power”, they are something less definable.

B) The correlation is true. In transitioning from Old to New Testament, God increased in purity, and thereby relinquished power (which explains the modern lack of flaming bushes).

C) The correlation is applicable only to Man. In which case, incorruptibility may be the distinction between man and god. It begs the question, “what does absolute incorruptibility lead to?” An “absolute power” beyond our grasp? Perhaps it *creates* a god, allows for the manipulation of matter and energy through Will.

An absolute power on Earth corrupts. God is a supernatural being. That's how I can assume God is completely moral and incorruptible. We cannot grip the complexity of this being because He is of what we do not know.

Power tends to corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely. This a famous quotation from Lord Acton. It has been observed that when power tends to increase the morality is lessen as the intelligence of men increases. Indeed God has absolute power but morally speaking the famous phrase doesn't absolutely applies to God.

Be it known that Moral Law is the highest reason, implanted in Nature, which commands what ought to be done and forbids the opposite. This reason, when finally fixed and fully developed in the human mind, is Law. And so the most learned men believe that Law is intelligence, whose natural function is to command right conduct and forbid wrongdoing.

Law is the primal and ultimate mind of God, whose reason directs all things either by compulsion or restraint. Wherefore that Law which the gods have given to the human race has been justly praised, for it is reason and mind of a wise law giver applied to command and prohibition.

Indeed there is only one law, eternal and unchangeable, binding at all times upon all people. And there will be as it will be the common master, ruler, completely moral and incorruptible, namely God.

God as the author of this law, its interpreter, and its sponsor.

A great philosophical question that requires a deep thought. Thanks for asking and have a great day!

The err is in considering only one of God characteristics. God is power, but God is also love, and God is also wisdom. Among these three we must find a balance. Even in the Bible it says, (Paul speaking to Timothy), that we have not been given a spirit of fear, but a spirit of power, and of love and of a sound mind.

Anytime we lose our balance of these three we err. Sure power corrupts unless it is tempered with wisdom and love, but there is no need to worry, because God is also absolute in Light and Love too. Peace.

Power corrupts because of our human nature. We need for our lives to have worth and, we have a tremendous capacity for self deception. Power gives us the feeling that our lives have worth and our ability for self deception allows us to think that the feeling is reality.

But we know that truth is good and corruption is bad and love is good and etc. If God created us, He must have put that knowledge into our heads.

God isn't human, that is the key characteristic in an absolute deistic being. Because he is not human he can not be corrupted by power. Because he is all that is defined as good there is nothing that can define him as bad. As proclaimed by every religion.
