WHAT DID YOUR DOCTOR SAY WHEN YOU ASKED HIM AFTER THE FIRST FOUR DAYS OF BLEEDING????????????

Is the bleeding bright red and not stopped since the baby was born? If so then you probably have some retained products of conception. You need to see your GYN and find out what is going on. If you are having a bit of brown staining then it is not what I would call really out of the norm. At 7 weeks postpartum though, you should have passed through several stages of frank red bleeding, pink discharge brownish discharge and then the white discharge the comes at the end of the 6 weeks. If you have gone through those afore mentioned stages and are now bleeding like a period then it is probably the return of your normal cycle . (This is particularly so if you were not breast feeding).

I feel your pain. After I had my son I had the same issue. What it was in my case was pretty much as soon as I stopped bleeding I had my period. Your first period after pregnancy can be a little bit longer and a little bit heavier. With that said, I would still ask your doctor to be sure.

Congrats on your new little one!

Yeah, my soon to be sister in law told me a period after pregnancy will last up to 6-7 weeks.. she had a baby 4 weeks ago.. if it's lasting longer then go to a doctor, but the midwife should have informed you of this, and you should tell your health visitor if you have one..

I dunno why people like Julie bother coming on here, giving stupid responses.

i actually bleed for about 3 mos. total and was told it wasn't serious you typically bleed a little longer after a 1st child .my 2nd i bleed for about a mo don't worry if it still is heavy and doesn't seem to ease off any go see your gyno. did you see the dr. at your 6 week check-up? if the dr. wasn't concerned then i wouldn't worry

Go back 2 your doctor. 7 days is understandable, but 7 weeks means something might b wrong.

You can bleed up to 6 wks postpartum.

If you are still bleeding really heavy and clotty Id definately see a doctor.

Go with your instinct, if it doesnt seem right....let someone know.

It's normal, it took me 40 day with my first child. What you should try doing is putting on undies that will put pressure in your abdominal area so it will bleed more but for less time.

Consult a Gynecologist but if there was tearing of the vagina during birth and you had it sewn up it might not be healing properly or the uterus wall could be torn
