Why get married? Its not an obligation, its just a paper that says that you live together, and are a loving couple. You don't need that to keep enjoying your relationship.

Just enjoy your love and keep doing what you both like to do!!!

Good luck!!!

I think that is totally up to the couple. There are people who marry quite soon sometimes not even having been with or known that person for a year. Look at the late Steve Iriwn he and Terri got engaged after only 3months of knowing each other, and married 8months after they meet. I know a couple (high school sweethearts) who dated for about 9 or 10 years before getting engaged and married about a year later.

Me personnel I would want to be in a relationship with the person for at least a few years 2 to 4.

My husband and I got married three months after we met.. But, we're crazy like that..
Before that I dated someone else for 2 years and still wasn't engaged.
A couple should date as long as both parties find it necessary to do so. I know a couple that dated 10 years before getting married and I knew another one that got married after a few days.

I feel very strongly that you should date at least three years. OR longer. You need to know what he is like after the passion fades and the real deal is all you can see. You can get married after a shorter period of time and you might get lucky and be compatible. BUT.... personally I would want nothing left to chance. Besides if you love each other what is the big hurry???? Wait and make sure it is the right decision.

i dont think there is a definite time line for those things, but i do think a couple should live together for at least a year before getting married. its a good trying time and that way its not too much of a shock when you do get married. my husband and i got married after 2 and a half years together, we lived together all that time as well.

I'm with my partner 11 years at christmas and we're not married and we don't ever plan on getting married. We have two sons and a house. We do eveything like a married couple and are perfectly happy the way things are so why change it.Marriage adds unnecessary psychological pressure just for a signature on a piece of paper.Love is all you need!!!

Everyone is different but I think at least a year to get engaged and 6 months to marry. So a year and 1/2.

Five years and it may be extended another two years for good measure for a total of seven years. After this you two pretty much know everything about each other and if you are still crazy about each other. Take the plunge, enjoy!

depends on the couple really! some do it after a few weeks, months or years! i'd prefer to meet someone, wait a few years, then get married! i'd like to know someone properly before i make a life long commitment to them.

ask britney spears she got married and annuled in the space of 3 days!
