I don't think Congress will ever eliminate the 2nd amendment. It simply takes too much effort to amend the Constitution (2/3 of Congress and 60% of all states). But, depending upon the make-up of the Supreme Court, we could see significant restrictions. To keep things pretty much the way it is, we need either Libertarians or Republicans nominating Supreme Court Justices.
