most ceiling fans come with small balance weights, you attach these to the blades to stop the wobble, the instructions tell you which blades to fit and where, failing that try using pennies on a blade held on with anything until you get it right then glue them in place

Dear Jason,
Most places that sell fans will also sell a balancing kit. it involves a clip and some weights. (both of equal weight)

How to balance --- place your clip on a fan blade close to the hub. Turn on your fan, if it is worse, move your clip to another blade. If it is better, move the clip out towards the end an inch at a time until you get the best results. Peel of the sticky tape and stick the weight on top of the blade the same distance as the clip. Next remove the clip. Be sure the blade is clean before you start.

If this fan was noiseless before; check first that the blades are securely fastened to the bracket and that the bracket is secure to the housing.

Hope this helps,

Terrance

A couple of things contribute to this problem. If it wasn't weighted (balanced) properly on install it will wobble and make noises. It also could be the quality of the fan. We bought a less expensive ceiling fan for one of the rooms in our last home and we balanced it properly but it still made noises. We took it back and bought a top of the line fan. No more problems.

Move the blades around. Some blades are heavier than others. It takes some time to remove one and place it on another bracket but it worked for me. Just keep moving them on to different brackets until the fan stops wobbling.

You can balance it by adjusting the blades, but it's a pain. I balanced mine by taping pennies to the top of the blade. Just add them one at a time until it stops wobbling.

There are weights that you can place on the blades to balance the fixture. This should have come with the fan otherwise you can find them at your local hardware store.
