This is just shed. When you look at it in a certain light it can look gold. Air has gotten up under the shell. Nothing to worry about....

What type of Turtle is it go to a public library look at the books on turtles & get the one that's right for you.

Your turtle has shell rot, which is a common bacterial infection.
Gently scrape off the fungus, apply neosporin, and don't allow the turtle back into the water for several hours.
Repeat weekly until it heals.
Add Novaqua to the water as a preventative.

HUH???

Are you asking why there are specks of gold in his shell?

Why would his shell's color have anything to do with his appetite?

Maybe rephrase your question.
