I used to be able to create anything i wanted and now i can't do it anymore. How can i get ''it'' back? Should i stop wanting to do something i just can't do anymore?

You should stop thinking about it, and focus on something else, just relaxing, and seriously get it out of your mind during some time, then it will probably just get back to you, it will flow through you, you'll see, the creative idea I mean. That usually works.

I've never had a block that lasted more than a moment or so. I can always get past them by simply working. If anything, I have too many ideas...

A few things that may help:

...Switch media or try a new one.

...While you're working... extrapolate from what you're doing... look at how you might build on the ideas you're working with or how you might use the same technique with other ideas... Consider how you might do everything differently and write things down as they occur to you.

{Most ideas pale by morning}

...Do things to break up any routines you might have gotten in to... consciously watch what you do and rethink stuff that may have gotten tedious and boring.

...Research.

...Fiddle

...Try a few of these:

...Decalcomania rocks, Eclaboussure can eat a watercolor block in a day, Frottage is nifty, Fumage is dangerous but cool, Grattage can build amazing things, Paranoiac-critical method is essential, Automatism always works to get me back on track.

There is a journey for artists, by an artist, called "The Artist's Way," by Julia Cameron. It is a book with a specific program to help us stay creative. It is well-worth checking into. I highly recommend it!

It can be purchased here:

This is the official website:

Best Wishes!

Turn your computer OFF. Go for a long walk in the woods or on the beach (river, lake, bay, ocean). Take time to smell the flowers. Then go to a city and watch all of the 'poorest people' and see how THEY live ... and take a notebook or sketchpad so you can 'start creating' when it HITS you ... because it will. Don't 'try' ... just 'go' and then 'do' ...

don't force things, it only makes it worse. I usually go to the nature preserve near my house and chill. I take in all it has and find myself thinking of creative things I can do with some of the things I see around me.

That happens to me all the time. Just relax and don't think about it. Eventually ideas will come to you.
