i no how to do everything to set up the security on my pc as far as going to that 192.168.0.1 site setting up the wep key and thats it. but when i use my laptop it wont connect to the internet i know im doing something wrong but i dont no what....how do i make my laptop get on to the internet .... please help step by step instructions will help...

I have a wireless Laptop. It needs a wireless PC internet card. Since I have sprint internet DSL thats the PC card and I plug it into the slot and it works there.
I also have the sprint software installed on the laptop so that it can communicate with the PC card.
Your's depending on who your internet provider is, would do the same.
1. do you have a PC internet card? If not you need to ask your internet provider what tools they are using.
2. than upload the software from that internet provider to your laptop. Follow the instruction and you should be ready to go.
3. On the start button of windows go up to all programs
than up to internet connection.
than up to show all connection.
And than see whether or not you are getting a wireless signal. It could be that your lap top does not come with a wireless device. Ask the manufactor what you can do about it. When you are in network connections, start the trouble shooter and see what it says.

if you have broadband your internet provider should provide you with a modem and wireless cards if you dont already have computers with them, you cant just access the internet using wireless without going thru an internet provider....give them a call, they may not even offer wireless depending on where you live, but that is what you need, a wireless modem, two wireless cards, and one wont work for both becuz the one for the desktop will be different than the one for the laptop because most laptops have a wireless slot in them already, that is what they were designed for ...........almost forgot, each company has their own software they will have to install too, to make their cards and modems be able to work

why are you using a wep key use a strong wpa , wpa2 key
i myself have cracked wep in 30 minutes and i know some
people who cracked it in 5 mins through packet injection,
wep sucks but still you are better off than most morons not
securing there routers.
