Ok I am buying a gaming computer that is custom. Now, I have to make a trade off. It is either the Intel QX6850 Quad processor and the GeForce 8800 Ultra Video Card.......OR.......The Intel E6850 Dual processor and 2 8800 ultra video cards. Which is the better pick?? Thank you! All answers highly appreciated!!! Remember this is for gaming not multitasking. Also, keep Flight Simulator X in mind.....

I would choose the E6850 Dual with SLI enabled. ;)

Generally, 2 video cards working together in an SLI configuration will give you much better frame rates for games. Linking 2 8800s on a MB will rock.

I don't think that FS X will push that set up though. If you were thinking about running Half Life 2 or F.E.A.R or the new Crysis game, any of those would give it a run for its money.

You need to compare the price difference between the two. A computer with the 2 8800's will be set for a couple of years on whatever comes down the pike game wise. But if you can not afford it with sufficient RAM and hard drive space then go for the single card set up.

I've built several gaming computers and the things you don't want to scrimp on are

1. RAM (the more the better)
2. Monitor
3. Video card(s)

Ok processor and amazing video card. The video card is much more important for gaming, and the CPU you listed is plenty fast to play most of the games on the market today. Besides, a Core 2 Duo is going to be better for gaming because most games only utilize a single core during operation. So having a Quad core CPU would not help your gaming performance unless the Clock speed and cache memory are significantly higher than the Core 2 Duo.

Well what do you want to waste your money on, an obsurdly overpriced processor that you don't really need, or an obsurdly overpriced SLI setup you don't really need. Technically for gaming the SLI setup will be better, if you wait a year and then find the most intensive game out, and put it at the max settings, it might actually tax those cards.

You won't see a big difference in gaming performance between those two CPUs, but you will see a noticeable difference in most games with the two 8800s. Go for the SLI.

Really you should have your Video Card and Processor balanced as your computer can only go as fast as your processor and having a bad video card can slow down your games.
