See, where I come from in the plain-speaking God's Country known as Northern New England, when the scumbag boss man leaves you holding your dick for ten days and then offers you a 33% pay cut, we just go ahead and say the ****** fired us. But I know you big-city New Yorkers like your double-dealing fancy-talking tricks.
Why is he the greatest manager in Yankee history? Well, for one reason--every single one of you Yankee fans were calling him that until today.
You know, I didn't think Yankees fans were as crackpot as my fellow Red Sox fans, but it turns out I'm wrong. Some of you sound so bitter it's shocking. Your team was sent home for the winter days ago--aren't you over it by now? It's not the end of the world. I guess you just aren't able to keep these things in perspective like the great Manny Ramirez can. Then, too, there's the fact that you don't have a 6 and 0 professional football team to cheer for.

Did you just call us the Skankees? He wasn't fired either he did it on his own. But yes it was quite idiotic to even think of firing him.

Joe Torre won a lot of games with New York, but why is the greatest in their history? What makes him better than Stengel, Miller Huggins or Joe McCarthy?
He's gone seven years without winning a World Series, despite a team loaded with All-Stars. I know they had bad pitching this season, but many of those have seen them ranked near the top in both hitting and pitching. If he's not getting the job done, then I don't see why his being offered less money is such a big deal.

Don't even go there. The Yankees management has been high on firing the Chiefs and not the Indians. A long time ago, one of the new managers was told about the Envelope Plan.
The fired manager said to the new manager, "If you get in trouble the first time, open Envelope One. If you get in trouble the second time, open Envelope Two." Envelope One said, "Blame it all on me, the previous manager." When the new manager got into trouble, he opened the first envelope and blamed everything on the first manager. Then he got in trouble again and opened the other envelope. Envelope Two said, "Prepare two envelopes."
Ouch. Love ya, Mr. Torre.

I agree 100%. Big Stein looks like a morn to the sports world. He didn't have the balls to fire Torre so he did it in a passive aggressive way.
To me the Yankees don't feel like the Yankees without Torre. Im sure that will change
PEOPLE A 1 YEAR DEAL IS A SLAP IN THE FACE TO A MANAGER LIKE TORRE...................

First of all, he wasn't fired. He chose not to accept an offer. Besides, he isn't a very aggressive manager.
We will all forget about it very soon. Why? We are gonna see some Donnie Baseball! My childhood hero!
