Once you pass your permit test, how long does it take to actually get it? do they mail it or what?

once you pass your test they give it to you same day

It depends on the state. In Utah they give it to you on site. In CA. they mail it to you. Hot tip here. Join the Auto club. You will never have to go to the DMV again and their towing services and maps etc are invaluable. The best money you will ever spend. I don't work for them. Its just that their service is so outstanding. Any thing to keep me out of the DMV has got my vote but they help with so much more.

I'm not sure in other states but in Queensland when you pass. Your photo is retaken and your given your new lic in a few min.
