He can't claim that the funding would pull from the war funds... that is all borrowed money anyway!

oh... I know that a veto is a veto...
I'm only repeating the way I have heard republicans defend the veto...
they claim that war is the reason that Bush gets to veto things... So if that were the case....

Veto power is what makes a dictator exist in a democracy
You need a democracy like UK and Canada, no dictators possible

He can veto what he wants. That's one of the powers that the president can use. However congress can override that veto if both the house and senate have a 2/3 vote.
PS-its not borrowed money, you don't have a choice when it comes to giving money to govt and govt programs. You don't pay up, you go to jail.

He doesn't get a special veto for times of war, a veto is a veto.

Veto power is a benefit of the Presidency and part of his powers as checks and balances on Congress. It is outlined in the Constitution.

I have not heard him claim any such thing. He is using the veto as he should have been doing for the last 7 years.

He vetoes bills that are either bad or poorly written, regardless of whether we are at war or not.
