My thoughts in a nutshell...it's not illegal, so everyone can STFU. I happily nurse my almost 10 month old wherever and whenever he wants to eat. Period. For those that don't want to see it...well, I don't want to see teenage girls with "juicy" written across their butts, I don't want to see fat men shirtless, I don't want to see boys walking around with pants so large they have to keep a hand on them. However, until a law passes that makes any of those things illegal I will have to deal with seeing it. So I hate to be the one to break it to ya, but get used to it, because breastfeeding is not going to be made illegal any time soon.

breastfeeding is a natural, beautiful part of bringing a life into this world. There is nothing wrong with feeding in public, although most people do prefer to use a blanket to cover the bare breast and the child eating. But don't stop breastfeeding if you are, this is the best milk for your child, and it creates the best mother child bond.

My thoughts are that it is normal, natural, and convenient.
I have breastfed 3 children now, the youngest is 1.
I hope that because my boys see me nursing, it's not going to be a big deal when they are older. Already, they pass by a mom nursing and don't even blink. I hope that we can each make strides to change our views on breastfeeding over time- by starting with our children when they are young.
I am a veterinarian. I see animals nursing their babies all the time. I have yet to see one female dog say to another- "Oh gross!!!" Or, for the nursing animal to take her litter into the restroom to finish the job. Please! If only we had the sense that animals do.
I plan to nurse as long as she likes. Our second son was 2 when he weaned. Our older son was 18 months.
I agree, there are far too many of these questions posted and I have to wonder why? Wether you agree or disagree, it's normal. I have yet to see a nursing mom do it for attention. In fact, I see the look of fear when some nursing moms find they must nurse in public.
I had nursed in the restroom with our oldest- and you know? I got dirty looks there as well. BY WOMEN! I nurse when our baby needs to. I care not for what people think. I am well past that.

I have done it with my older son and I am doing it now with my 3 and a half month old son I don't see anything wrong with it, after all babies have to eat to. As for people saying nursing moms should take their child to the bathroom to feed think about that...would you eat in a bathroom and would you want to? I would think not. Ans as for breastfeeding rooms I used one once with my older son and I wouldn't do it again it was gross in there to. I don't know why people think breastfeeding is a sexual thing. Sorry now I am kinda just venting. I don't want to start a heated debate. :)
**** I do cover up also.

That its natural. If someone bottle feeds in public I'm not offended. And personally its my right to feed my child in public. I have a 5 month old daughter and when possible I try to feed her as privately(In vehicles and in breast feeding areas) but Ill feed her in a restaurant booth. So far I haven't had any criticism. I think its important to respect others but really breastfeeding is not as offensive to me as allot of things on billboards. If we can post half naked teens on billboards we can handle an adult feeding a baby.

I see more offense in the people who eat like pigs and slops in public than an innocent baby getting their dinner. We get hungry we go to mcdonalds. Baby gets hungry they go to mcmommy. The breast and breastfeeding have been around since the beginning of time.

Why not? People feed their kids bottles of formula in public and no one is throwing a tantrum about that! Yes I know, "It's different," but how? The baby's eating! Yeah it's coming from a breast, but really, with all the nudity/ skin shoved in our faces that people have become numb to (ie itty bitty shirts, low rise jeans, thongs and underwear, bra straps, cleavage), everyone's only bothered because it's serving a purpose not being used sexually. And just because I don't put a blanket over my son's head doesn't mean you are going to see the entire breast, nipple, stomach and shoulders (I won't be topless that's for sure, and the nipple is in my son's mouth, was that disgusting, oh well) Yeah you might be able to peek a tiny bit of nipple as I QUICKLY move it from hiding under my shirt to hiding it in my son's mouth, but only if you are staring me down and waiting for it, or if you just so happen to see it the second it happens. Otherwise no, not much happening. Well there will be that case of when someone feels it's their moral obligation to touch my son only because they think he's sleeping, but when he pops off to see that weird stranger that has no business being there, then yeah they'll get an eyeful!

there is absolutely nothing wrong with breastfeeding in public. I of course think we should be discreet but today we are urged to breast feed but behind closed doors? Kinda mixed signals to tell us to do it but don't let anyone see.
Get over being immature and no one asked you to look and if you do maybe you are the sick pervert! We are not doing it for attention but simply to feed our children the BEST!

It's perfectly normal. Babies need food. Try and cover most of your breast though. I don't see what the fuss is about. Breastfeeding is a lovely thing and I'm disgusted that someone said 'gross'. I bet they didn't complain when they were being breastfed!

I feel that breastfeeding in public is awesome! I do however feel you should be mildly discrete about it. As long as your whole breast is not hangin out it is a great thing. I wish more people would breastfeed in public as it would make me feel much more comfortable when I nurse my son whom is know 6 months old. I always try feed him before going out but some times it does not work that way. It was alot harder in the beginning but now it has gotten so easy that I do not think people even notice he is nursing they think he is just sleeping on my lap.
