I was holding most of my judgement about him untill I had seen him in his first debate. I just dont understand what some people see in the guy.

I am with you, my friend, as far as I can tell, there is nothing about him that is Presidential material. Incidentally, I recently heard a nationally well respected person say that Fred is not what he seems.......so voters need to get informed here......

Fred Thompson did serve two terms as a senator from Tennessee. The only reason, he did not serve three terms, is because he said when first elected, he would not run for a third term. He didn't. That gave him a bit of additional credibility.
Compared to the other candidates, he is probably the most conservative, and there are many people who do like, and agree with conservative values, on both economic and social issues.
Granted, Fred Thompson is not perfect, nor is he the perfect candidate, but when I compare him to the other candidates, I have to seriously consider him as my choice.
(For what it's worth, I'm from Tennessee, and voted for him twice for the Senate.)

He was a U S Senator, congressman and retired from his various posts and believes he can come back and do better as president. Everyone knows him in Washington, D. C. as a level headed individual that is a straight shooter, and is the only qualified candidate on the Republican ticket outside of McCain who is the most viable to take over when GWB leaves office during the conflict in Iraq. The changing of the guard leaves only a very few on both tickets to take over.:

Republicans: Thompson and McCain.
Democrats: Obama, Edwards and Biden.

Believe it or not, thats it, and anyone else on either ticket should scare us to death. WWIII is a real possibility with or without GWB in office, and we do not want any part of that war on our soil.

Well, since Law and Order had a huge fan base, a lot of people are already familiar with his face. Many people might mistake the beliefs of his character on Law and Order with the beliefs of the actual man. History has shown us that popularity and familiarity can win an election (Reagan, Kennedy)

People confuse the character with the man is my guess, they have to realize that the guy you see on Law and Order isn't the guy running for president.
