How would you like to die? What, in your opinion, is a good death? I would like to die knowing I did what I can and want and knowing that I did something here and made a difference.

I can think of a few ways to die that would be acceptable to me. It would be good if I spent my last moments on earth with my family around me. Kids, grandkids. Knowing that I did all I could to be a good person.
It would also be good if I gave my life to protect someone that was in trouble. Not out of a sense of nobility or honor, but knowing that I was doing what was right.
It would also be acceptable if I died in defense of a just cause. I have no problem with giving my life in the pursuit of justice or freedom. Sadly, seldom in life is there such a time when a cinflict is fought for those reasons.
Lastly, I would give my life that a loved one may live longer. Rarely is a greater gift given from one person to another.

There is no way of knowing what is a good death. There is no possible way to reflect on what constitutes a good death as noone has ever been able to vouch for one type of death against another. After all, death is pretty final.

Peacefully in my sleep of course. :) at very old age. Yep its nice to live a fulfilling life. But as Montgomery Gentry would say ....even just working hard and providing for your family with love is something to be proud of. :)

That's something to be proud of
That's a life you can hang your hat on
That's a chin held high as the tears fall down
A gut sucked in, a chest stuck out
Like a small town flag a-flyin'
Or a newborn baby cryin'
In the arms of the woman that you love
That's something to be proud of.....

If I must die, then I choose to die fighting. Fighting for what is right so others may live their lives as they see fit without interference from Man or the Gods.

A good death is a death without any regrets. But there will always be some regret some where.

I'm hoping that it will be -so- fast and violent that they won't find any pieces big enough to bury.
One of my all-time favorite lines from 'Star Trek' (in the 'Casino Royale' episode for all you afficianados ☺) is when Ryker says "It looks as if he died in his sleep." and Worf replies, "Ugh... What a terrible way to die."

I like your ideas.
Then I'd like to die in my sleep, painlessly.
