I am 38wks pregnant. I have had a very painful pain running all through my back since last night. Its been pretty constant all day. Ive tryed to be active to see if it will go away, but its still there. My stomach has also been pretty hard most of the day although I am not really having alot of abdomen pain. I am however having lots of pressure and stinging pains in my vagina. Could labor be near?

Back labour is usually the lower part of your back and it can be quite painful and uncomfortable. To me its sounds that you maybe having braxton hicks (false labour), So it wont be long, because it could be that your cervix is beginning to dilate. The pain could also be the pressure of the baby on your spine, the baby could be facing a certian way, I cant remember what way it is, which could cause severe back pain. If its constant and not easing I would ring and speak to a mid wife and see what she suggests. The pressure and stinging of your vagina suggests to me that the baby is low and I it probably wont be long. Just uncomfortable, until your gorgeous bub will be out. Try having a bath to relieve the pressure, thats if you can get in and out of one. Get your partner involved and help you get in and out of the bath. However if you are unsure and concerned ring up your doctor and ask him, even seeing him/her if your concerned.
Good Luck

Lower Back Labor

I was induced, and as soon as I was about 3cm, I had so much pain in my back, I'd black out for hours at a time, not remembering what happened or conversations I had. You'll know.

Try walking around tonight, maybe see if you can either get the pain to stop, or get your water to break and have a baby. This is the worst part of it all! Keep it up you're almost done hon!!!

I had back labor but not till I was almost dilated 3 cm and already at the hospital. It was in my lower back and extremely painful. I don't remember pain down there but I remember the pressure. Are you have contractions? I had contractions that made my back spasm. Keep time on your contractions and give your doctor a call if you need to.
