Are final fantasy 3 and 6 the same game?

Final Fantasy 6 was released as Final Fantasy 3 for the SNES in the US.

Final Fantasy III and Final Fantasy VI are not the same game. That is one of the confusing issues with the final fantasy series you see the final fantasy III that was released in the US was Final Fantasy VI in Japan.
The United states did not get to play the real final fantasy III until 11/14/06 when it was released on the DS. While Final Fantasy VI that was released in the Anthology collection on the PSone helped set the series to rights in the US. With the new releases of final fantasy's in recent years has set the numbers in there correct order

many people confused about this, but Japanese release and American release make it different.
