that 1 year deal was disrespectful to Joe Torre i think
i'm not a yankee fan but i thought that that offer was equivalent to a slap in the face
hope he finds a good team because he deserves better :)

I am not mad, I am sad, Yankee management basically slapped Joe Torre in the face when they wanted to cut his salary. It was not about the money with Torre, it is about respect, and that he did not get.
To cut a mans salary who has done this much for the yankee orginazation, who has won 4 world series, who has been to 6 world series, and who has taken your franchise to the postseason for 12 straight years, was disrespectful and a joke.
Joe Torre is a hall of famer, he will get his number retired by the yankees, and he will get a monument in the new yankee stadium. I appreciate everything Joe Torre has done, an i wish him good luck, it is the end of an era, a great manager, and a dynasty.

no. He will talk with management( George) and come up with another contract.
Torre is the highest paid manager in the MLB. They offered him 1 year at a base salary of 5 million dollars, which is 2 million less than he made last season. The Yankees did give him the option of coming back after the 2008 season, if he wanted to ( at the same price).
Plus Bonuses:
Make the Postseason- $ 1 Million Dollar Bonus
Make the ALCS- $ 1 Million Dollar Bonus
Make the World Series- $ 1 Million Dollars Bonus
I think Torre wants something longer. I see him getting a contract for 3 years with the option for a forth and about 25 million dollars+bonuses.

I think that Torre and the yankee managment will figure out a compromise. I really hope so too b/c if you look at his stats even with the last 3 years he is still doing great. GO JOE!!!

After the Yankees acquired swept via the Red Sox, I did not consider they deserved the proper to enter an over-hyped sequence with the Mets and overwhelm them. But, 2 wins is 2 wins, so we will take them. Besides, the sequence wasn't particularly the identical besides, with Beltran, Reyes, and Delgado out of the lineup for the Mets. Regardless, they might were prime scoring video games with the satisfactory lineup in baseball (Yankees) in opposition to an k Mets lineup.

No! Why should I be, the Yankees did to Bernie Williams and a course we were a bit upset but Melky Cabrera made it worthwhile unlike Johnny Damon... the biggest problem with New York is that it doesn't know how to end relationships well with anyone in the organization or outside of it too for that matter... example Don Zimmer....

Absolutely not...........I don't think it's a matter of the money at all..........I think it's Joe's pride and in this case his pride is not ill founded.........After the stupidity Steinbrenner and Co. pulled on him during the playoffs with their "earth shaking" announcement and then stalling this offer out for over a week I have nothing but the greatest respect for Torre and how he handled this.............CAT
