Aphrodite is the classical Greek goddess of love, lust, and beauty. Her domain may involve love, but it does not involve romance but rather, it tends more towards lust.
Is was characterized as vain, ill-tempered and easily offended. She loved to be put on a pedestal and worshipped. She loved the idea of being the great goddess of beauty and fairest of them all.
Due to her immense beauty Zeus was frightened that she would be the cause of violence between the other gods. He married her off to Hephaestus, the dour, humorless god of smithing. Hephaestus was overjoyed at being married to the goddess of beauty and forged her beautiful jewelry, including the cestus, a girdle that made her even more irresistible to men. Her unhappiness with her marriage caused Aphrodite to seek out companionship from others, most frequently Ares, but also Adonis, Anchises and more. Hephaestus once cleverly caught Ares and Aphrodite in bed with finely wrought chains, and brought all the other Olympian gods together to mock the pair.

Of course she was very sexual. She was the goddess of love and beauty. She was the archetype of wanton sexuality. She was everything that every man desired. And to be that she must desire men. It wouldn't have been much of a fantasy for men to be pining away for a love goddess who didn't want anything to do with them. So they imagined a goddess who was so wanton and desirous that she would take any man who caught her fancy. Then every man on Earth had the hope that they might one day catch the eye of a goddess and be treated to a pleasure that no mortal woman could match. Its a male fantasy. I understand if it offends women but for guys its just the ultimate dream. Women sought to emulate that kind of alluring power over men to control them. Cleopatra succeeded.

Aphrodite was the female archetype of the wanton sexual woman. She epitomized sexuality rather than romance. Thus, she enjoyed being with men. I think that she felt that there was probably always something better out there; being a woman of beauty, she certainly had options and I think it was her ego as well as her sexual wantoness that kept her going.

Yes. She was the goddess of sex. Goddess of the bedroom, of the senses of divine love. Cupid was her son and she gave him some of her power but he used it for mischief. She is said to smell of warm honey and freash bread and all things healthy and womanly. All sexual powerful, lovely and rather into human men instead of other gods, they were fun diversions. Kinda like Zeus and his many wives.
