how much would it cost to replace/fix the power steering pump on a 1999 Ford Ka?

one or two hundred pounds I would think.
Get a few quotes, shop around.

Re-manufactured power steering pumps run between $78.00 -$88.00 at any auto parts store. A new OEM ( original equipment manufacturer) Ford part would run $270.00. You could pull one off a car at an "automobile cemetery" for $20.00 or less. A mechanic could do the change within an hour. An independent mechanic would charge about $60.00 to install it. Between you, I and the fence post there's not a thing wrong with a re-manufactured power steering pump.

A Ford KA has power steering? I can get one of those in the boot of my Mercedes! Sureley not!

Remember that main Ford dealers charge about £85.00 per hour labour so you could be looking at 2 hours plus the part plus VAT

I would call the local scrapyard and see if they have one.
Then get a friend to fit it or the local garage.
