College is very competitive nowadays, so students have to work harder than ever.
A 'B' in middle school, is like a 'C' in high school - very average.
Work harder hon -
1]pay attention,
2] take good notes - everythin teacher puts on board, as well as all things that will be on test,
3] do all assignments day assigned [ do a timeline for long term ones - topic by_, research done by_, outline by_, first, second, third drafts... ]
4] review all notes, in EVERY subject, EVERY day, but either sat or sunday. You will always be ready for quiz, test, exam, as well as prepared for class.
5] if you don't understand something, look it up.
a] definition - write it down
b] procedure - outline it
c] have an oncall nerd if possible, who likes to help people
6] as you finish assignments, immediately put them in that class folder or notebook, right in front.
7] restock all folders with papers, backpack or bag with pens, pencils, etc.
8] get all schoolwork and clothes ready the night before
9] get a good night's sleep
10] eat a good breakfast, so you can pay attention

You have a B average and that should be good enough for high school.
I get the same way about a 'C' especially a 'C+' because I feel a little more effort could have been made to get the 'B'. It must be a parent thing.....remember it so you don't do it to your kid.
It's hard sometimes for parents to look at the overall picture. Don't get discouraged we are only human and make mistakes too. I know he's proud of you...the words just come out wrong some times
Keep up the great work and good luck on your test Monday.

Look, you did the best that you could do, and really that's all that you can do. There is no perfection in the world. And just becuase you get a few B's and a C one time on one report card DOES NOT mean that you have a zero chance of being accepted to a good college. I think that your parent's may be putting too much pressure on you to be a A student. Talk to them about it.

I agree with the Jennifer.
Nope, they're not BAD grades :)
For any average person, those are perfectly fine and I'm sure you'll get into high school with them, no doubt.
But C's aren't really something to be proud of. My parents are the same as yours, they don't punish me or get mad about C's, but they try encouraging me to do better than that.
If everyone praises you for getting these grades it doesn't give you motivation to improve!
These are pretty good, but try to improve!
Do your best :)

Parents always have the panic button on, this is normal, I have 2 teenagers and I think your marks are great. It's really early in the school year yet if you feel the need to improve you have time so ask your parents to calm down.

Good job! My dad is like that too. He just cares and wants you to be accepted in a good school. But maybe if you can raise those c's to b's, then call him, he'll will be very proud. But im sure he's already proud.

I hate to say this because it goes against what all those other posters are saying, but those grades aren't great. They're average at best. C's are borderline. You can do better than that. No wonder your dad's disappointed.

Those ARE highschool grades.
I got a C in scence too.
It's hard to have so much pressure on you, isn't it.
I stress myself out so much trying to get over a 3.5
But those are great. Don't let anyone tell you other wise =]

I never knew you had to have the right grades to go to a highschool unless its a private one.
Those are good grades! Your father just wants to see you succeed and apparently to him, that's not successful. Tell him you have tried your hardest and will continue to work your hardest and that's the best you can do.
Don't beat yourself up over a couple of C's! Those just obviousley aren't your strongest subjects and that's okay! It happens to the best of us!
