Sounds like a water pump problem.Did you hear any rattling noise coming from the engine? If you did,the impellers have failed and would cause immediate overheating. If you haven't run the car since this happened there should be no major damage done. The way to test it is to start it,and put the heater and fan on full when the temp. gauge starts to rise.If this works, then the water pump is your problem.Reckon on probably £120.Get an estimate. They will probably charge you for putting the light out too.

Hi
It sounds as though you may have coil pack failure. A flashing check engine light usually signifies an emissions issue, and a failed coil pack would allow unburnt fuel to enter the exhaust which would be picked up by the O2 sensor.
However, this is not a definite and your best bet is to have the codes read out and decyphered which will give you a better idea. I expect you will find one of the following codes, or may be a combination P0300, P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304, all of which refer to misfiring.
Just a guess!
Very best regards
Geordie

Contact a Chrysler dealer to have the car checked over properly, sounds to me you may just have a faulty coolant temp sensor though, this is a very common fault on the stuff that i work on.

Sounds like the heated oxygen sensor may be faulty.
Get it to a garage to have diagnostics check done.

Check your fan belt, that it's not loose or broken. If it is, it would cause the engine to overheat.
