These are the names we like but we really never seem to stick to one for very long. We still have a long way to go. I am hoping some of your comments will help to influence us to liking one of these more than the others. We like boyish names, masculine that will sound professional in the future. We are not so sure that Liam is respectable enough but we like the sound of it and I am Irish.y

Liam is a great name! You could name him William and go with Liam as a nickname (kind of like how a Christopher could go by Topher), if you'd like - the only problem I have with that is I like nicknames that begin with same letter as the real name, so initials are never an issue - but then again, I'm just a little ocd so maybe you wouldn't mind. Jonathan is alright, but nothing that special. Andrew is a pretty cute name, but once again, very common. Nicholas is absolutely classic, sounds very masculine (Nick is one of my favorite nicknames of all time). Caden is really pretty, but I actually know of a little baby GIRL Caden born recently... I think it's going to jump on the Hayden, Jayden, Payden train soon for girls, so I wouldn't use it. I would hate it if I named my kid that and a couple years later, everyone associates it as a female name!

But there are alternatives to names like that. How about Aidan instead of Caden? I'm pretty sure there won't be any girl Aidans being born anytime soon lol. I've already said William; what about John/Jack Nathan for Jonathan? Jack is like the most popular name ever, I know, but it's not trendy at all I think! For Andrew, what about just Drew or Ander, Anders, Anderson, etc. Nicholas stays ;D.

And there are tons of other great, masculine Irish names out there. Here are the ones I can think of off the top of my head: Brody/Brogan, Cormac, Declan (Dec/Deck is a very manly nickname, imo), Finlay, Keefe (although this might end up sounding like 'Keith' with a lisp... I still like it lol), Quinlan, etc. Good luck with the name search and the baby!

I LOVE Liam! Pretty much because it isn't a common name. All the kids on the block are named Nick and Caden. I'd love for my kid to be called Liam and not Andrew C. or Nicholas P. It seems very gentleman like to me as well.

I like all of your names but my favorite is Liam...wonderful name! I think it's appropriate for a little boy as well as an adult.

My second favorite would be Caden; however, the -aden names are so popular right now. With all the Jaydens, Bradens, Aidans, Haydens, etc. and all the many spellings, the name Caden unfortunately blends in with the rest of them.

I prefer Nicholas and Andrew for their adorable "shortened" names Nick and Drew.

I like the name Jonathan (my husband's name), but his name gets misspelled quite a bit--> Jonathon, Johnathan, Johnathon...we've even seen Jonnathen (sad, I know). Even when he spells his name out to people, it STILL gets misspelled. This one would probably be the first name eliminated from my list.

Good luck with your choices.

I like Andrew and Nicholas the best. Liam and Caden are way too trendy, especially Caden.

Out of the those, I like Johathan, Andrew and Nicholas (have 1 of my own). Caden I feel is very...blah and I absoulutely can't stand Liam. It makes me think of a very weak person.

I believe that these names are not only very masculine and professional, but that they grow with the child.

Think of this: Could you imagine a 80yr woman named Britney? or Courtney? 80yr man named Mikey? I can't anyway.

As kid, he could be called Drew, Nicky, Johnny etc, as an adult, John, Andrew, Nick etc. Other names that grow with a person is Thomas (Thomas, Tommy, Tom), Joseph (Joseph, Joey, Joe) I feel that there's nothing silly, unprofessional or weird about them.

My favorite: Nicholas.
I makes me think of a very active, smart, strong, well respected individual. I also think of someone very caring, sweet and protecting of others, which is why I named my son that. He was Nicholas as a baby, Nicky when he was little, now he's starting to be called Nick.

Best Wishes with your little one and good luck with names! =]

Jonathan, Andrew, and Nicholas are very common where I live, so I'm going to have to say that I don't like any of them. Liam is interesting and I absolutely adore the name Caden. (Or Cade, for short.)

Of the 3 for sure safe names, Andrew, Jonathan, and Nicholas, I like Andrew, but to me, all 3 of theese sound ok, safe to go with.
Caden and Liam are more exotic and different, not so common. I can't see any thing wrong with them, unless there is something not so pleasent that can be rymed with them. I, personally, love really exotic names, but of the two I really like Liam. It is different and it sounds good.

My personal preference is Nicholas or Andrew, and I think either of them would go good with Liam as a middle name. All are good names for a child or an adult, except maybe Liam. All would be good for an adult who works at McDonald's, or an adult who is a doctor. You have to think of these things, you know?

They're all great names, except for Caden. No particular reason, it's just not my taste. And I prefer William over Liam. (By the way, I don't know why you would think Liam isn't respectable.) My order of preference would be:
Andrew
Jonathan
William
Nicholas
Caden
