I am generally a good communicator. I also do pretty well with public speaking. However, when I give praise to someone my eyes begin watering uncontrollably. It has been this way as far back as I can remember. Even saying something nice about someone causes the reaction. Such as, "great job on that report" or "you are a very intuitive person". It is embarrassing since I am an executive and deal with people all the time. I play it off as allergies. I don't want to go to a psychiatrist but I was thinking maybe someone knows a way to overcome it.

Hey, I do the same sort of thing, but I've noticed that the problem increases drastically when I don't get enough sleep (I'm not sure why the correlation). See if you can get a bit more sleep at night, or if you can try some stress reduction techniques - if you notice that your eyes don't water as much, then perhaps you have your solution. Something else I tried was taking a deep breath before saying things that usually triggered the eye-watering. That didn't really help me, but it might help you. It will still happen from time to time, and the allergy excuse of even acting like you thought you were going to sneeze may save you from time to time and spare you some slightly uncomfortable embarassment.
