In that case it is the absolute value or the positive value of the number (remove any negative signs).

| 5 | = 5
| -5 | = 5
| 3 | = 3
| - 57 | = 57
| 0 | = 0
| -2 | = 2
etc.

I tried to guess what the boxes are, but they aren't mapping to symbols in any of the fonts I tried.
