72+4+14r=36
first combine like terms
76 +14r=36
now subtract the 76 from the 36 that's on the other side of the equation
14r= - 40
now divide 14 by - 40 and you get
20/7=x as the simplified answer

Always remember to place the unknown values on one side of the equation and the known values on the other side of the equation.
Always remember what you do to one side of the equation you must also do to the other side of the equation.
Now look at your equation.....I hope that you see that we must put 72 and 4 on the other side of the equation.
72-72 +4-4 +14r = -72 -4 +36
I hope that you see that I subtracted from both sides.
14r = - 40
Divide both sides by 14
14r/14 -40 / 14
r = -40/ 14 reduction - 20 / 7
Best answer -20 /7 or approx - 2.857
