Hey you guys, i hope i will get an answer to my Question, ok here it is: I bought a used 1992 Mitsubishi 3000GT SL and well on teh rear left tire there is a broken security Lug nut. i cant get it off with the Adapter that came with it. i tried to weld a nut on it but that really didnt work, i even tried to force a socket on to it it had a tight grip but when i tryed to turn it it slipped. I really hope someone can help me with that, because it is a really nice car and i dont want it to go to waste. I would really appreciate any answer. Thanks Jeremie H.

Check with a good auto parts store (not Autozone or Advance) and see if they have a socket made specifically for your problem. They should have.

There are 2 ways.

1) there is a lug nut removal tool avaable from auto parts stores, and tire shops have it too.

2) Grind the stud end off the back of the rotor (a lot of diassembly work) and push it through with a large punch.

=== go to the welding shop and get them to make you a new key to fit the locking lug nut............... A GOOD WELDER is an artist in metal and iron === That's what I did and it is still working --- and by the way you should take a socket that is a 3/4 hex base and get it converted to the new key..There is no trick or alternative way to get the locking security lug nut removed...

Drive a 6 point impact socket slightly smaller than the lugnut on and it'll come off.

THe site I found this at had done it several times and you can remove them faster than using the key on a good lugnut.

Those security lugs are usually too hard to grip with anything. The best way to get one is to grind flat spots on two sides.

It may have to be ground off. In the worst case if the lug is damaged it can always be replaced.

Take it to a tyre depot, a backstreet one. They have tools to deal with just such a dilemma.(an air driven wheel locknut gripper).
