Two ways. Either braking the law and not getting caught, or not braking the law and getting in trouble anyway.

I originally noticed the effect that the words "I'm a lawyer" would have on adult bullies (bill collectors, landlords, etc), and how one letter signed by a lawyer that amounted to "What's your problem?" could often solve someone's difficulties.
What keeps me hooked is the fact that I can often (not always, it isn't magic, y'know) solve someone's problem, whether by telling them how to behave more reasonably, or persuading the other party to stop being an @ss. Even more, in the area that I practice, I get great pleasure from preventing problems from happening in the first place.
This isn't unique to Law, by the way. Everyone that earns a living does so by solving or preventing someone else's problem, except those who work for the government. It's just that I enjoy solving this particular kind of problem.

I started working for an attorney's office and since then I wanted to know what all the codes were, specifically for clients who came in and I just wondered what they did to be in court. It's interesting to know what Penal Code's are and reading law dictionaries and California Code of Law Books are very interesting besides it can show you how much you really can get away with things or just how far someone can go until its actually illegal

Working for 4 attys. in a law office. Each atty. specialized in different areas of the law. VERY interesting career. I really got interested in every case I was working on at the time, from start to finish.

It's just always interested me. Originally, i think it dates back to some point in my childhood when i came to the conclusion that something wasn't fair. I specifically remember that i didn't think it was fair that some kids got the free hot lunches (considered a treat that my parents gave us money for once a month if we were good) at school while i had to bring my own. I looked into it and found out why it was that way and i still thought it was unfair. Why should those kids get handouts when their parents are lazy and mine are working their butts off to provide food for us?
