I think he wants a 2 or 3 year deal, so he can open the new Yankee Stadium in 2009

first of all, i'm a crimson Sox fan. I even have considered some video games the place judgements he's made i presumed had a unfavourable result on the sport, and that surpassed off approximately 4 cases. the guy's controlled what a million,a hundred-something wins and four WS and thirteen publish Seasons with the Yankees. They (Steinbrenner & Sons or Cashman) are actually retarded to enable him bypass. Who the heck do they think of they're going to replace him with? Mattingly? Mattingly became right into a 1B, All-action picture star. stable Managers (of the worry-free a Yankee supervisor might decide for to be) are the two Catchers or Pitchers, no longer First Basemen. I advise his first three hundred and sixty 5 days there he controlled a be conscious sequence win... yet another factor as quickly as we had that knuclkehead Dan Duquette he spent plenty time blaming different human beings ... after a mutually as there became into no one left accountable. an analogous factor will take place to Cashman (who looks like a typical manhattan city sleaze bag in any case). back, as a crimson Sox fan, this is great information. i'm hoping Torre is going to Texas, he can paintings some magic with them. he's an elegant guy and he will have a good destiny. Yank followers get waiting for us to take many extra branch Pennants now which you have have been given in simple terms enable the main experienced and argueably the excellent supervisor in baseball walk out the door.

So he should turn it down too. Steinbrenner EVENTUALLY has to be called to task for being a spoiled brat. He whines about this and complains about that and then, in the middle of the series, puts unnecessary pressure (PUBLICALLY) on his manager to win or else.
I said all along, if they go back and offer a contract, that looks poorly on Steinbrenner, but if Joe accepted it, it would look poorly on both
Good for Joe. That's a man with pride.
Funny that the Yankees don't have player contracts based primarily on performance and advancement into the playoffs, they wouldn't sign anyone.

You can't yank someones chain and then expect him to jump just because you come in with an offer. Almost to a person everyone on this site is in support of Torre and everyone believed Torre would say yes to any offer. The offer of $5, million, although a lot of money, was $2 million less than what he made last year and I believe Torre took that as a slap in the face. We all believed Torre to be a "class act" and now we add "proud" to that as well.

Torre was sick to death of being threatened to be fired by Steinbrenner if he couldn't bring the team another World Title. Steinbrenner, the idiot he is, wouldn't even let Torre manage, there was so much pressure on Torre! Him leaving was a big 'ol "the hell with you" to Steinbrenner.

Go JOE! That is great! I was hoping he would put that institution in it's place. I would be sick of working for ******* like that! Glad he realized he deserved better, believe it or not, it's not all about money.

He likely turned it down because a one year contract implies lame duck status. I bet if they offered him a two or three year deal he would have stuck around.
