How do I connect an effects pedal into the effects loop of an amplifier?

The effects loop jack is a stereo type 1/4" jack with 3 connections: tip, ring, sleeve (TRS). You need to buy a "Y" connector that breaks the 3 conductors of the TRS connector to 2 separate 1/4" mono jacks for the pedal.

If the effects loop has 2 separate 1/4" connectors they will be lableled "in" and "out". Simply connect two 1/4" mono cables from the 'out' of the amp to the 'in' of the pedal, and so on...

Your local guitar shop will have any/all these cables for sale.
