OK it is kinda weird that you would chose to work and live near eachtoher and be best buddies after a divorce....

So here is my question.....why did you divorce?

As a man you should have just been the bigger person and just said sorry it wasnt meant to be rude, instead of telling her to relax. The joke must have been a bad one. Dont slap her with a D like the last guy said. It seems like you two still like eachother, or maybe she was still liking you after you two broke up and she finally got over you, or found someone else. Do you want to be with her, if so I would start impressing her. If not, just leave her alone. I think either she wants you to chase her and sweep her off her feet or she is done with you. Send her some friendship flowers at work, and say thanks for being a friend.

What was the joke? She might not have seen it the same way you did. Also, who broke up with whom? Girls tend to be a bit more relationship sensitive. It could be that you offended her with a joke and she wrote you off because, as friendly as you two had recently been, she was on edge with you because you were an ex. That happens a lot. It's not often that you stay friends with an ex without either getting back together or getting in a fight.

Well, it sounds like your joke was really a BAD ... REALLY BAD... idea... like maybe it was:
rude
crude
insulting
demeaning

and when she told you it was rude, you blew her off and made sure she knew how STUPID YOU THINK SHE WAS FOR COMPLAINING by telling her "to relax" like her complaint was not worth listening to!

You just cut off your link by being uncouth, rude, uncaring and insensitive.

Yes, she's mad at you. You made some joke that only a real jerk would make, and then made sure she knew you didn't give a darn about the fact that you offended her.

It's very difficult to maintain a friendship after having had a romantic relationship. You tried but now it's gone sour. It sounds like she may have moved on and is trying to cool her friendship with you. I doubt very much the joke is the real issue. Let it go!

Maybe there's a ligitimate reason for it and it's nothing to do with you.

There could be loads of other reasons also. Has she got a new partner? Because I was ok with my ex until I got a new partner and felt a bit weird seeing him outside just in case my partner got the wrong idea.

That must have been some joke. Can you repeat it here?

Usually people who split up, do so for a reason. You're better off not being around her. Don't be tempted to get back together.

She may just be realizing she's ready to move on completely, and whatever joke you told, struck soemthing in here head.

People always say "we'll be friends" after a break up, and some are.

But when you "break up" with someone.. that's what you do.. you break up.. you move on....

She just got to that point faster than you did

if you still want to be friends with your ex maybe you should apologize for the "rude" joke. why didn't you tell us the joke too?
she could be seeing someone making it awkward to be friends with you or maybe she started to have stronger feelings for you again. just ask her whats wrong.

She might be dating. Give each other space. Try to get on with your life. Don't worry, if she wants you to know what is going on she will tell you.
