Magnum wasn't underrated in the regional scene back in the day from what I've seen and understood, but on the main global stage, he was kind of overlooked. I remember hearing something about a car crash or something along those lines, and then I never saw him on TV again. His promo work was nothing to write home about, but still not terrible, but I'd almost agree with anyone who said he was the best wrestler of the 80's on a purely technical ring work level.
I think Koloff just got stuck with a one dimensional gimmick that wouldn't let him evolve to a higher level on the card. It's a shame too, because he was really talented, very textbook, and I will agree, very underrated.

I agree with you 110%. Magnum TA should be one of the 20 greatest wrestlers in the history of the sport.
