If you look at their collective attendance records, logically one would have to answer "yes" to your question. It's almost funny the amount of time the actually spend at "work".

Yes. The biggest problem with congress is that they feel they must pass laws to justify their worth. We have way too many laws that aren't enforced now. They should spend their time minimizing government and eliminating laws.
Reguarding Turkey: This isn't a useless activity for the Democrat party. If they can piss off a strong ally of the United States in the Middle East then we are more likely to loose the Iraq war. If the US looses the Iraq war they can continue on with their rant about we shouldn't have gone there in the first place. If we win in Iraq and democracy strengthens in the middle east that will show that President Bush and the Republican were right. The Democrats would gladly have the US loose for political power, just like they did in Vietnam.

The Rush limbaugh and Moveon.org things convinced me of that. The Turkey deal is different, because it's actually at the request of the State Department. They're hoping to diplomatically intimidate Turkey into backing down over Iraq, but I don't think it's actually going to work this time.

Yes!! That's one reason Arnie (CA gov.) suggested the legislature be part-time, because they come up with so much stupid crap.
Ohhh we must give condoms to prisoners...
You must have your kid in a car seat until they're 6...
If there's an accident, make laws that will prevent it from EVER happening again...
Let's pay the GED-qualified correctional officers $180k in overtime!
Let's cut education spending!

I think they need more time off.
Let them go to DC,once a year for 90 days, pay them $25.00 an hour,no overtime.
The rest of the year they have to be in their home districts where the voters can get at them.
At home they get $ 15.00 an hour and no overtime

Gee, ya think? We ought to make congress a 3-month job once a year, and make them actually work at real jobs the other 9 months...anything they can't get done in three months isn't worth doing anyway.

Time?
I think if any of us had the time to do the research we would find that this is the slowest moving congress in history.

If dragging up stuff from 100 years ago is what's keeping them busy....then yes. Maybe we should give them more to do or perhaps cut their pay a bit.

Well yes. How would you like it if your Senator was Maria Cantwell, who spent countless of worthless hours researching international dating systems? specifically to benefit foreigners who want to come to the U.S.?
