Dr. J...........The very thought of that, just after I've eaten dinner, is making me ill............Good Grief what a horrible thought.....I heard one worse though on TV........Some idiot said they were thinking of Bobby Valentine who's now in Japan..........That's one step worse than Clemens...........CAT

This is the end of a great era in yankee history!!! Joe Torre managed the last Yankee Dyansty since Joe McCarthy....I am not suprised that he left and I am happy that he left on his own terms.....The next couple of years with the Yankees is going to be a complete restructre of the the team....I dont think Posda Rivera Pettite A-Rod Abreau will be back, I also think that the Pitching coach who worked with Joba Ian Phil etc will be the next pitching coach....I Hope that Don Mattingly doesn't become the next mgr I hope Joe Giarardi.gets the job!!! I agree with you Bobby Valentine is a worse choice than Mattingly!!!

As for the rest of the team I think it will remain pretty much the same.....If Hank, Hal, and Cashmen are serious about keeping the team young and saving money which i hope they are I dont see them singing many free agents...Then again if there is a player out there who can help the rebuiling process and maybe even be one of the KEY players that the team is going to be built around then I hope they go for it....They need to keep Joba in the bullpen either as a set of man for Mo if he stays or he becomes the next closer!!!

NEXT STOP FOR JOE IS COOPERSTOWN!!!!

You know, to be real honest, I always thought Joe Torre was over rated. After all, Britney Hilton could have won with some of those teams. He wasn't anything like a remarkable manager before he took over for the Yankees.

But I'll be stupid-butt Steinbrenner's childishness during the division series had some to do with Joe's decision. I think he was mistreated, much the way Bernie Williams was. I hate to see the 'classy' Yankees (they've had no class since Steinbrenner has been there if you ask me) dump on people who have served them well. A little loyalty to Bernie and Joe, that would be class. The way it is, it's class without the 'cl'.

I am very sad to see Joe Torre leave, but I was glad it was more on his own terms! It was only a matter of time before Steinbrenner would have gotten rid of him. It is an insult to him to offer him a job with a big pay cut, he did great things for the Yankees, he deserves more respect. I think it will be Don Mattingly as next Manager, I am not sure that is a good thing. I am anxious to see who stays on with the Yankees for 08, I am very curious to see what A-Rod will do.

I am not a Yankee fan but after what Steinbrenner pulled on Joe Torre, I can't say as I blame him. U don't threaten firing someone if they don't win the World Series then a week later offer them a contract. To me, that's a slap in the face. I hate it for all U Yankee fans. I liked Joe Torre & thought he did a great job.....besides the fact he was a good guy. Best of luck to y'all gettin this one straightened out!

Joe deserved better than this. It will be a cold day in hell before I support this team while Steinbrenner is in charge. You do realize that this decision will effect not only Joe, but Rivera, Pettitte, and will probably turn A-Rod away. The Yankees are done for at least 5 to 10 years. They will be a decent team but not a team that will challenge for the Pennant or World Series.

If the boss has any say, expect Don Mattingly to take over.

Joe did the right thing. One year deal is a joke, and he knows that if the Yankees dont win next year, this drama would start all over again in 2008. Yankee management is a joke.

No player outside of some college athletes are making a decision based on a manager. It is a business and players, managers and GMs know paychecks are ultimately not based on decisions concerning others.

My three ideas for manager are - 1. Tony La Russa 2. Don Mattingly 3. Joe Girardi......the best for Joe is 1. as it would be a natural for him to manage - if he wants to - in a city he had success as a player.

Maybe Suzyn Waldman can announce that "Roger Clemens is is the dugout... goodness gracious, Roger Clemens is managing the Yankees".
