Some people have proposed that. However, the Feds used the the threat of pulling Fed Highway funds from states that had drinking ages below 21 a while back, and all the states complied.
One side affect was a dramatic decrease in traffic deaths from Drunk Driving.
Do a few searches on the topic and see what you find. Certainly the issue of being old enough to serve in the Military should be old enough to drink seems plausible....That was the argument used to lower the voting age back when we had a draft.

Several states had been discussing this issue because their state legislators feel military men and women returning home should be able to have a beer without repercussions. Most have since abandoned the push for a low lowering the age, but the states that have continued to explore it want to lower it for service people only.

No but many feel if they can go to War at 18 they can drink at 18. It is a movement here but just alot of talk. Given car wrecks and irresponsibility issues states will not go back in time. But, the argument is the best one in ages. Hope that helps.
I am from Hawaii and we were one of the last hold out to change the drinking age. I loved it as a kid!

there grew to become right into a huge push to diminish the age in the previous due '60s and early 70s as youngsters have been going to conflict in Vietnam... the right age to serve the right age to vote. So the balloting age and ingesting age have been diminished to 18 in 'seventy two. I undergo in strategies working in a eating place in 'seventy 3 and observing seniors from college coming in and identifying to purchase some beers in the past afternoon instructions for the time of their lunch era. I undergo in strategies seeing the newspaper memories approximately each and every of the automobile wrecks by skill of inebriated youngsters. So sometime in the previous due '70s or early '80s they raised the age to 19 in Texas to maintain intense college scholars from getting inebriated for the time of lunch era. i think of different different states did an identical situation. Then the federal government got here alongside and tied highway money to a states proscribing below 21 ingesting. The states like that because of the fact they are able to seem at their factors and say, "The Feds made us do it." in the state of Texas it grew to become right into a legal for a new child below 21 to be caught with alcohol in the past 1965. This meant in case you have been in prelaw or premed in college... you were not now in view which you may desire to no longer be licenced in the two with a legal conviction. i think of it relatively is exciting to video reveal somebody drink to a lot and throw up their guts. It truly impresses the ladies human beings to... in view that maximum women human beings do unlike men who drink plenty.

If they don't lower the drinking age they should raise the age our young people can join the military. Seems to me if you're old enough to die for your country you should be able to legally have a beer.
Not joking.
Mele Kai, you and I were typing that at the same time!

You can get splattered into a pink mist for your country at 18, but God forbid you go to the bar and have a beer. Politicians don't care if you die on the battlefield for them
