I have a Medela Pump in Style advanced but then was later told by another person on here that Ameda Purely Yours works just as well, is much cheaper, and can be resold when done because it's a "closed system". That means that you could buy an Ameda Purely Yours used without worries of contamination if you get new flanges, bottles, and tubing. It is also a dual electric pump, which will cut down on your pumping time. I recently helped my sister purchase it for a friend and she's been happy with it.

Medela Pump in Style hands down, no questions asked.
My biggest piece of advice is pay the extra money and get a good one! If you buy something that doesn't work efficiently, or causes you stress and problems, you're more likely to give up on the whole thing and stop breastfeeding! Formula costs about $5 a day. So that is $150 a month... the Medela Pump in Style is around $250... not even 2 months of formula feeding. Its worth it!
I pumped more than 3 months full time with this pump. It never let me down, and one of my favorite parts is that you can pump using a battery pack, so I would pump sometimes while my husband was driving... then I didn't have to pump when we got there (church, meeting, family dinner, etc.)

The Amdea Purely Yours is a great pump. The Medela Pump in Style is also great. You'll definitely need a heavy duty pump if you're going back to work full time!
Good luck, and congratulations on the new baby!

Medela pumps are great, but if you have more sensitive breasts, try the Avent. It has soft pillowy inserts in the cups to help make pumping more comfortable, but also make pumping not as effective I have found (and even states in their directions). Make sure it's a double pump whatever you get. I bought the Avent pump and love it, but it takes a bit to set up, so I started using the Medela employee pump (I work in a hospital, so the lactation specialist has the pump set up in her office, so we just hook up our pumps to the motor and go).

The Pump-In-Style is the most popular choice, and quite convenient for the office. I used it once a day (at work) when I had to return to the office. But the Ameda Elite was the best one for me - it's a hospital grade pump, and perfect if you are pumping exclusively.

My daughter is almost 11 months old and I have been using the Medela Lactina since her birth( she was early so I had to pump). It makes the trip to work with me everyday. It has done a wonderful job!!

See if your company has a lactation program. ALso if you're married if you're spouses does. You can often get a pump for a third of the price. Go with the best medela you can afford then.
