Music was at its best in the 70s. Musicians had talent then. There of course were a few good bands in the 80s and 90s (just like there are a few good bands and performers now.) But now its about being cute or hot or obnoxious. The music has suffered.
As for style, as awful as the clothes were in the 70s and 80s, it still made the time. All decades are cool in that regard.
And yes I have a time machine. Wanna ride?

The 80's were good.
Just enough excellent music, t.v, movies and not too much political correctness, taxes, and inflation.
Just on the verge of the high tech era so you could still enjoy playing a record, and carrying a boom box. Everything was still BIG then even the cars and it was okay.
Long haired rock stars were a definite sign of those times, very good decade for sure.
Oh yeah, and people were a lot nicer to each other than today.

I'd pick the 60s, because I am a total hippie. I wasn't born until '74, so I'd love to go back in time and see Joplin, Hendrix, and Jim Morrison live, that would be awesome!
