HI,im 18 and im a big metal listner my self i like bands like (dream theatre,symphony x,kamelot,stratovarius) and everyone styreotypes me as this crazy sick person who cuts himself every night.
the thing is of course im not.the reason i listen to metal is that instead of making my body dance it makes my soul dance (my view).i sometimes imagine that my soul is smoke and watch it dance infront of me.that is the reason.and i hope everyone knows that.
i do get "crazy" in concerts from time to time.but thats only coz im so exited to be seeing my idols right infront of me.
btw metal is not the only genre i listen 2 i listen to classical music as well and i learnt the piano 4 that reason.
the reason im asking is that i want to know if there are some people who actually think im metal listners are "normal".
thanx 4 ur time and i hope im dissapointed to think that all people think that way of metal fans.

I think older ones are stuck in the 70s. I think younger ones are the victims of a generation with no imagination and by and large listens to either their parents music or regurgitation of that music by younger bands. I guarantee you 30 years ago I wasn't listening to my parents' music.

I see your point. I listen to metal and everyone thinks I am some mad person who is deeply depressed and slightly weird. It's OK to like metal, I listen to it all the time. You should just ignore their damn comments.

hi well let me tell you that i dont think ur weird!!!!! i listen to Rap, hip hop, r&b, soft rock, mexican music, so on and so on i also listen to metal at times like (slayer, slipknot, devil driver) bands like that and some rock. people think im weird cuz i listen to that they say how can u understand that?? what are they saying?? do u worship the devil?? **** like that but i just say its a style and a type of music and it just happens to be ur style!!!! no some people are just stupid and ignorint!!!! so dont worrie about it

I have never heard a piece of metal making any sounds. Therefore I don't really listen to any kind of metal.
Perhaps your ears are ringing from listening to something else that is very loud.
