A few days ago I caught my little brother (he's 13) downloading porn featuring underage girls. I yelled at him and told him to delete everything. I haven't told our parents yet. Now I'm afraid at any moment police are going to bust down the door and arrest him. Is this likely to happen? Should I tell my parents? Or, is my brother really messed up and I should not be trying to protect him?

I would tell your parents so they can look out for him. He is just curious at his age..but it can get bad if not watched.

You have very good reason to be concerned. Police, both federal and local, are constantly tracking this sort of internet activity and attempting to track down the users.

Considering your brother is underage, there's a liability question for your parents too. There's also the question of why he was downloading underage porn - if he has an attraction to this specific genre of porn, then that needs to be addressed to.

I think this is definitely a situation where you need to speak with your parents. They not only have a right to know, but they are in the best position to help your brother realize why its wrong, and address any repercussions.

Good luck!

Good thing that you yelled at him. Now go back and calmly explain why. Someone rational needs to tell him why it's wrong. Tell him all the reasons and leave nothing out. After you explain everything to him in detail listen to what he has to say. If he was only looking at girls his own age out of curiousity and had a normal reaction, then forget about it. But if he was looking at little girls and getting off on it, or in any other way confused, then you have to tell your parents and one other person outside your home that you trust. Unfortunately some boys start young with the weirdness and it's usually a sibling that knows about it. I have a weird little brother too and he's still a weirdo. It never went away. So it's important for you to check him now and report him if he's perverse. That way your part will be taken care of. Good luck.

He's only 13, which means he is likely just curious and means no harm. Unlike the perverts who put underage girls on the internet. I wouldn't tell your parents. Have a talk with him. Tell him if he does it again that you'll tell your parents. It's not likely that the police will bust down your door, though you could use that in your talk with him. Good Luck!

You should talk to your parents since possession of child porn is a big deal. They can make sure it is completely removed from the computer and discuss the criminal issues that could arise.

However, since he is 13 I have less of an issue with him looking at pictures of under-aged girls. I think if he is going to view porn it would be more troubling if he was looking at 40 year old women.

Well, since he is only 13 himself, I doubt you have to worry about him being arrested as he is a minor himself. I would suggest however that you tell your parents. I would say that he could just be doing it out of curiosity, but it is still inappropriate at his age and if there is more going on, it could get him into trouble in the future.

He is a minor, therefore, he will be fine. Your Mother and Father, on the other hand, will have trouble proving it wasn't them downloading this stuff. You need to let them know. Chances are, nothing will come of this, however, informed parents can make better decisions on everything fom what to do with your brother to which lawyer will help them the most.

The authorities keeping an eye on under age porn are primarily after the ones making it and the older men looking at it that may be pedophiles.

I don't think they would harass a kid. The girls are probably his age any way.

Even though he is 13 he can be labeled as a sex offender for life if the authorities find out.

So let me see, he is 13...he downloads other pics of girls that are around his age. lol. What should he be looking at porn about your mother's age?

Handle it within the family!

I wouldn't worry too much. The government isn't interested in busting your little brother, they want the low-life scum-sucking pervs that are creating and distributing that sh!t.

However, if you go thru the computer's hard drive and find more of that crap, definately bring it up with your parents -- he needs serious help.
